Hello, and welcome to my first weekly round-up of 2019! Last week was a wonderfully quiet Christmas Recovery week. My husband went back to work on Wednesday, but the children didn’t go back to school until today, so home was very chilled, and I had some time to potter in my craft room, the fruits of which you can see below.
My Bread was created for the Scraptember January Stash Bash prompt: cork. In the Scraptember Facebook Group, I’m sharing a stash-bashing prompt every day. There’s no pressure to do each one; they’re just there to inspire. I haven’t scrapped each one, but I’m hoping to have a crack at some more this week.
For Not All Treasure Is Silver and Gold I used the Cheeky Studio Ahoy ephemera and flair. It was perfect for scrapping this picture of my daughter who spent about three of her preschool years dressed as a pirate!
By far the best Christmas present I’ve ever received is the Silhouette Cameo 3 digital cutting machine that my husband gave me this year. It is so easy to use! It helps that I’ve got a background in photo editing, and it didn’t take me long to create my own wave cut file and cut it out of a piece of mixed media paper for my third layout of the week. This machine is going to take my paper-crafting to the next level.
The last page I created was In the Sand. The Scraptember Stash Bash prompt was punch so I used a craft punch to punch out little flower shapes and added them to the Cheeky Studio Latte Love sequin mix which I popped into a pocket I’d made to look like my daughter’s sand pit. I also squeezed some washi-tape on the layout too – another of the Scraptember prompts.
In the evenings, I spent some time journaling long-hand in my travelers notebook. Before I wrote a word though, I spent some time mindfully adding watercolour to the pages, as well as some splatters of gold and torn strips of washi – I’m really loving torn washi at the moment. There’s something soft about those raggedy edges.
As well as playing in my journal, I decided it was time to decorate the cover. It was starting to get a bit battered, so I covered it in strips of torn washi and then covered that in packing tape to protect it further. I love the way it turned out. Blue, Teal and Purple is my favourite colour combination at the moment – it’s so soothing.
The other thing that I’ve been doing, is I’ve gone back to basics in my bullet journal. Another present my husband gave me for Christmas was The Bullet Journal Method by Ryder Carroll, so I’ve been reading that and applying some of its advice to my planning. I’m in the middle of recording a series of videos about my reflections on the process. You can watch the ones I’ve already published here.
And that’s it! The kids go back to school this week, so I should have a bit more time to art and craft now. Thanks for stopping by! xxx
