One of the many things I love about running my online shop is adding little surprises to my orders. Sometimes I slip in a few die cuts, sometimes, some punched tabs or tags, sometimes, a sample of washi tape. It feels good to know that my customers are getting more than they paid for and that they might feel good too about receiving something extra.
When I first started sending out orders, I always wrote thank you notes on the packing slips, mainly because it makes me smile to receive a hand-written note myself. It’s nice to be seen as a person, not just a customer. I also love to add ‘thank you’ notes and business cards to my journals and scrapbooks. Who doesn’t love actual ephemera?! Nowadays though, I go a little further than simply writing on packing slips – I make journal cards specifically to send as thank yous.
Earlier this month, I created a watercolour and ink painting of a poppy that I was really pleased with, so I scanned it and printed it out onto white cardstock, which I then cut down into 3×4 journal cards. On the back, I stamped my contact details and left space for the date and a thank you note. Today, I created another twenty five thank you cards, but instead of printing out the whole thing, I printed out the words and added colour and pattern using stamps, stencils and watercolour. I even added some gold glitter paste and copper glitter banners for shimmer and texture. Again, I stamped my contact details on the back, and when it comes time to send them out into the world, I’ll stamp on the date and write a heartfelt thank you.
The words on today’s cards read, ‘up from the ashes, hope will arise’ which is a line from a worship song we sang during this morning’s online church service. I hope these cards spark hope in their recipients.
Thanks for stopping by! xxx
