I describe myself as a gregarious loner and shameless eavesdropper and can often be found haunting the dark recesses of coffee shops and cafes, my pencil poised above paper. When I’m not writing or drawing, I’m either crafting in my shoffice, or packing orders for my shop. I also like to trawl charity shops for vintage paper, comb local beaches for sea glass and potter around my garden listening to birdsong.
Once upon a time, I was a fiction writer and my short stories were published online and in print. Nowadays, though, I sell my handmade cards in person, and since the summer of 2019, I have been selling papercraft and journaling supplies in my Etsy shop. Over the last few years, I have been a member of several planning and papercraft design teams, and have regularly written tutorials and made videos about card-making, planning, memory keeping and journaling. I have also been a guest designer for a number of companies and have recently had my designs turned into a fabulous papercraft kit by Mama Makes. In a previous life (i.e. before children) I had several different jobs, including research scientist and secondary school science teacher.
On a more personal note, I have overcome severe depression and anxiety and readily share the story of how I am recovering by discovering wellness, resilience and purpose through creativity, mindfulness, prayer, and planning. I am also a follower of Christ, attempting to live out my faith by listening and loving.
