Scraptember Day 22: Journaling Out Loud

Hello! For Day 22 of Scraptember, I decided to keep things simple and just prepared a page in my journal, so I could write in it later in the day. I used homemade watercolour mists to delicately colour the paper and then used a stencil and distress ink to add more colour and a bit of interest. I used some feather stamps and my favourite peacock feather washi tape to bring some more softness to the spread. I also broke out my metallic gel pens, Posca paint pens and metallic brush pens.

Scraptember Day 21: Let the Good Times Roll

Hello! For Scraptember Day 21, I’ve created this layout featuring two almost identical photos of my mum. Same person, same place, same pose, but different babies, three and a half-years apart!

I used Cheeky Studio Midnight Florals ephemera to create the cascade between the two photos and Monthly Words to create the labels on each photo. We call my mum G-Ma which is obviously short for Grandma. The ‘let the good times roll’ sticker is from the Vicky Boutin Field Notes collection.

I love how this turned out. I might have to recreate it and give it to mum to keep. I think she’d love it too.

Scraptember Day 20: Owl Be Seeing You

It’s Day 20 of Scraptember! Can’t believe we’re two thirds of the way through all ready. Today’s prompt was leftovers, so, I created this layout using leftovers from papers that had come free with a papercraft magazine. I also made a block background as Monday’s Scrap-A-Thon 2 prompt was ‘block layouts’. I really enjoyed putting this together and had fun with the punny title! I also included some diecut feathers and stickers from the September Lottie Loves Paper scrapbook kit.

If you’d like to see how this layout came into existence, there’s a video on YouTube for you. Thanks for stopping by! x

Scraptember Day 19: Better Latte Than Never

It’s Day 19 of Scraptember and the layout I’ve created for today is another collaboration with Laura Alberts. This week we’ve taken the theme of ‘surprise’. I decided to scrapbook an everyday surprise – a midweek breakfast with my husband after he returned home last night from a week away on business. I’ve called it Saturday Breakfast but on a Wednesday – Better Latte Than Never because we usually go out for breakfast together on a Saturday but couldn’t last weekend as he was away. The ‘Better Latte Than Never’ is from the Costa Coffee napkin I brought home with me from breakfast.

I used a variety of Mama Makes stamps for the background and some Cheeky Studio Latte Love ephemera and sequins to decorate my page. If you’d like to see the process and hear more about the story behind it, you can watch the video below. You can also see Laura’s ‘Surprise’ process video too.

Scraptember Day 18: Cousin Cuddles

It may be Day 18 of Scraptember, but it’s also a Tuesday, which means that it’s time to share another Cheeky Studio project. I created this 12×12 layout using the Winter Flowers ephemera and sequin mix along with bits and pieces from my stash.

Whenever I look at this layout it makes me smile – my niece is hugging my daughter and the flowers are hugging both of them! I also love how the pinks and greens of the Winter Flowers collection work so well with the colours in these Amy Tangerine Shine on Papers. So pretty!

If you’d like to see how this layout came together, there’s a process video below.

Scraptember Day 17: In Your Face

Hello! Here is my layout for Day 17 of Scraptember, and boy was it a pickle to do. When I started it, I knew I wanted a messy, grungy look, but it very nearly got out of control and I very nearly gave up on it. I’m glad I persevered though as I’m really happy with how it turned out. Leaving overnight to dry meant I could also look at it the next day with fresh eyes.

For this layout, I used leftovers from the September Lottie Loves Paper kit to punch out the circles and pulled in alphas from the August kit.

Scraptember Day 16: Beautiful

We’re over half way – it’s all down hill from here!

For today’s Scraptember project, I created this 12×12 layout following a sketch by Laura Rumble and using elements from the Lottie Loves Paper September kit. The paper is from the Amy Tangerine Shine On collection and the die cut butterfly and moths, phrase stickers and splats are from the Vicki Boutin Field Notes collection.

I really enjoyed putting this layout together, although it took me ages to emboss all six of those wiggly lines, and I ended up with embossing powder everywhere – surprise surprise!

As well as following a sketch, I also created this layout for the For the Love of Pretty Paper Facebook group’s Alphabet Relay Challenge. The prompt was G for Garden, so I chose three photos of my son when he was a toddler pottering around in the garden. He’s sixteen now and still likes to grow stuff – this year it’s been peppers.

For those interested, there is a process video on YouTube – you get to listen to me thinking out loud as I put together the layout. Thanks for stopping by! xxx

Scraptember Day 15: Collect Moments

It’s Day 15, folks! We’re officially half-way through Scraptember and still going strong. Of course I am really enjoying making all my memory-keeping projects, but I am also loving being part of the Scraptember community over on Facebook! So many scrappers have taken the bull by the horns and seem to be getting a lot out of it, especially the prompts, which I’m really happy about, as I was hoping they’d inspire people!

So, for today’s project, I’ve used my September Lottie Loves Paper kit again and combined two of the papers I cut into on Thursday. Of course they work really well together as they’re part of the same collection. An unexpected little joy was fining a home for the three 3D flowers from the LLP August kit. Despite loving them as soon as I saw them, I’d failed to find a home for them on any of my previous layouts, but when it came to embellishing this one, they just shouted out to be added.

If you’d like to see this project come together and hear the story behind the photos, then here’s a video for you. Thanks for stopping by! xxx

Scraptember Day 14: Cheeky Studio – Play On

Hello, and welcome to Day 14 of Scraptember. It’s the end of week two and we’re almost half-way through this month of memory-keeping. It feels like part of my life now – I know I’ll miss it when it’s over!

For today’s project, I’m sharing a Cheeky Studio design team make, featuring the beautiful Easter 2018 ephemera and sequin mix. The photo is of my daughter playing the piano a few years ago. I used Distress Oxides to lay down some mixed media in the background and added in some charity shop papers and stamps by Tracy Hey. If you’d like to see how it all came together, there’s a process video below.

Scraptember Day 13: One of a Kind

Hello, lovely friends! Welcome to Day 13 of Scraptember 2018. This month seems to be flying by. When I set myself the challenge of creating one memory-keeping layout a day and one video a day for the month of September, I did wonder if I was biting off more than I’d be able to chew, but I’m now in a nice rhythm of making, editing, uploading and sharing, and it all seems to be going quite smoothly.

For today’s project I used the September Lottie Loves Paper kit that arrived at my house yesterday and streamed a live scrap ‘n’ chat video in the Scraptember Facebook group. Lots of people popped in to see what I was up to and we had a good old chin-wag via the comments section. I’ve trimmed the fat off the video and it’s now available to watch below. I hope you enjoy it! Thanks for stopping by. xxx
